Oven Bacon

Updated: Aug 21, 2023

This way of cooking bacon is literally a game changer! I've never gone back once I figured out this great way to do bacon in the oven. It's easy.... not really a recipe, but a technique that is too good not to share. It makes the most flavorful, crispy bacon ever, without the mess!

Oven Bacon

Serves 4-6

1/2 lb. bacon slices

On a 12X17" sheet pan, cover with aluminum foil (I use non-stick foil). Lay out bacon slices, making sure they don't touch each other. I cut them in half first. Bake in a 400°F oven for 15 minutes (longer if you have thick-cut bacon), until cooked to desired crispness. Remove from oven and move bacon to paper towels to collect extra grease (most will be left on the foil). Serve immediately.

Step-by-step tutorial:

Preheat oven to 400°F. Line a sheet pan with non-stick aluminum foil or spray regular foil with cooking spray. Be sure the slices aren't touching each other.

Bake for 15 minutes or until desired crispness. Because it bakes in it's own grease, the flavor is so good! Transfer to paper towels to drain and serve! Cleanup is a breeze.....simply wait for the grease on the foil to cool and solidify, then fold up and throw away!

UPDATE:

I got a really cool baking pan for Christmas that allows you to cook food on a rack over the pan, allowing the hot air to circulate underneath. It works great with frozen foods like fries, tater tots, chicken nuggets, etc. It also works great with BACON!

I had to bake it a little longer since it wasn't being cooked in the grease (about 20 minutes), but it made really crispy bacon that is probably better for you with less grease.

I still cover the bottom pan with aluminum foil so cleanup is easy. Still bake at 400°F. So slick!

With tongs, remove to a paper towel-lined plate. Serve immediately. Bacon just makes everything better.
