Updated: Apr 26, 2021

Our family eats this fun snack a lot, but we don't always need 12 cups of it! This recipe is the perfect size for our family to all get our fill and enjoy. It's also the perfect size to make in the microwave!! You will be surprised how crispy it gets in the microwave, and you will love how fast you can have this snack prepped and ready to go. My kids will smell this cooking and run to the kitchen to munch. Go make some now!

Half Recipe Chex Mix

Makes 6 cups

3 tablespoons butter

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

3/4 teaspoon seasoned salt

1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

1/4 teaspoon onion powder

5 cups Chex cereal (Corn or Rice Chex work great)

2 cups add-ins (pretzels, peanuts, other nuts)

In a large microwavable bowl, microwave the butter uncovered on high for 30 seconds or until melted. Stir in the seasonings. Pour in cereal and add-ins and stir until evenly coated. Microwave all on high for 5 minutes, stirring every minute. Spread onto paper towels to cool. Store in airtight container.

Step-by-step tutorial:

Gather your ingredients. You will need Chex cereal, pretzels, peanuts, butter, Worcestershire sauce, seasoned salt, garlic powder, and onion powder.

In a large microwavable bowl, melt 3 tablespoons butter on high for 30 seconds. Add 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce, 3/4 teaspoon seasoned salt, 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder, and 1/4 teaspoon onion powder. Stir to combine.

To the bowl, add 5 cups of Chex cereal, 1 cup of pretzels, and 1 cup of peanuts (or whatever combination of other ingredients you like). Stir until it is evenly coated.

Put the bowl back in the microwave and cook on high for 5 minutes, stopping and stirring every minute.

Pour the mix onto paper towels to cool. Ours usually don't make it anywhere from here but just gets gobbled up. We love it warm!

It's a fun snack at the end of a school day, at a birthday party, at a game night, or just for watching TV.

Easy, fast, and the perfect serving size for a salty craving. Enjoy!
