Barbeque Baked Beans

When it comes to a BBQ with grilled meats, potato salad, and coleslaw, you also need a good baked beans recipe! This recipe from my grandma is stupendous. Full of meat, beans, smoky flavor, and BACON. If your a fan of baked beans, you are going to love this!

Baked Beans

6-8 servings

1 lb. ground beef

1 onion, chopped

1/2 cup brown sugar

2 teaspoons dry mustard

1 (15 oz.) can tomato sauce

1 teaspoon liquid smoke

2 (15 oz.) cans red kidney beans, drained

4 bacon slices

Brown ground beef and onions; drain. Add brown sugar, dry mustard, tomato soup, and liquid smoke and stir well. Pour into a greased baking dish. Chop bacon into small pieces and fry until crispy; drain. Sprinkle bacon on top of beans. Bake, uncovered, at 350° for 45 minutes.

When we go out to eat BBQ at places like Mission BBQ (my favorite!) I love to get a side of baked beans. I've always been a fan of beans since I was a kid. I love pork and beans, black beans, any chili, refried beans..... you name it, I love it. So needless to say, I was excited to make this recipe. It did not disappoint.

It was a little runny right out of the oven, but thickened as it cooled, and was even more perfect consistency the next day. I had to go buy liquid smoke, but don't skimp on that. It is key to giving it a smoky flavor which is essential for the full experience. No crazy weird ingredients, in fact I already had everything except the liquid smoke. It is so delicious, and I will definitely be coming back to this recipe!
