The Best Beef Taco Filling

We love tacos around here, and I love a fast meal that everyone eats well. Ground beef tacos have always been my kids' favorite, and they come together in no time. This recipe makes the most amazing beef taco filling with just the right spices and sauciness. You can use it to fill crisp taco shells, soft corn or flour tortillas, in taco salads and bowls, as well as enchiladas and tamales. It is so delicious and reminds us of the ground beef you can get at Moe's Southwest Grill, a family favorite!

The Best Beef Taco Filling

Makes 1 pound

1 pound ground beef

1 tablespoon chili powder

1 teaspoon salt

3/4 teaspoon cumin

1/2 teaspoon dried oregano

1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

1/4 teaspoon onion powder

3/4 cup tomato sauce

In a medium saucepan, brown ground beef until no longer pink; drain. Add the seasonings and tomato sauce. Allow to simmer on low heat for 5 minutes. Serve in taco shells.

Step-by-step tutorial:

Gather your ingredients. You will need 1 lb. of ground beef (I use 85% lean, but you can use whatever you desire), a can of tomato sauce, chili powder, cumin, oregano, garlic powder, onion powder, and salt.

In a medium saucepan brown the ground beef until no longer pink; drain off any excess grease. Add 3/4 cup tomato sauce (about half a can), 1 tablespoon chili powder, 1 teaspoon salt, 3/4 teaspoon cumin, 1/2 teaspoon oregano, 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder, and 1/4 teaspoon onion powder.

Stir to combine, then let simmer over low heat for about 5 minutes. That's it!!

You will be amazed at how quickly your kiddos eat this up! It is the best ground beef filling we know of, and couldn't be easier to make. Try it in tacos, enchiladas, tamales, and bowls. Say goodbye to the taco seasoning packets you used to buy!
