Slow Cooker Wassail


There's nothing quite like the aroma of wassail cooking on a cold winter day! This is our very favorite wassail recipe, and we love to have it in the slow cooker throughout the Christmas season. You can start it early, then by keep it on low all day long so you can enjoy a cup whenever your heart desires. This festive drink is fun to serve at parties and gatherings too. Drinking a mugful by the fire is so cozy and comforting!


 

Slow Cooker Wassail

Serves 12


4 cups water

1 cup sugar

3 sticks cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon ground cloves

3 cups pineapple juice

3 cups orange juice

3 cups lemonade

1 teaspoon almond extract


In a slow cooker, combine water, sugar, cinnamon, and cloves. Cook on low for 4-5 hours, then add juices and almond extract. Keep on low until heated through. Serve hot.


 

Step-by-step tutorial:


Gather your ingredients. First you will need water, sugar, cinnamon sticks, and ground cloves. Next you will need pineapple juice, orange juice, lemonade, and almond extract (not pictured.....but very important!).


In a slow cooker, add 4 cups water and 1 cup sugar. Add 3 cinnamon sticks and 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves.


Set the slow cooker to LOW and put on lid. Cook for 4-5 hours to get a good syrup base for the wassail.


Add 3 cups of each juice and 1 teaspoon almond extract. Continue cooking on low until desired temperature. You can then keep it on low or a warm setting all day so people can come and get some whenever they desire. It's perfect for Christmas day, or for parties and family gatherings.
