Big Mac Sloppy Joes

This sloppy joe recipe is the sloppiest there is, but oh so good! With all the flavors of a McDonald's Big Mac, including the secret sauce, piled high just like the original. Do you remember the jingle? "Two all-beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions on a sesame seed bun!" Yep, it's all here, and the whole family is going to love it.

Big Mac Sloppy Joes

Serves 4

1 1/2 lbs. ground beef

1/2 onion, finely chopped

1 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon freshly ground pepper

2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce

1/4 cup hamburger dill pickle chips, chopped

Secret Sauce:

1 cup mayonnaise

1/4 cup French dressing

2 tablespoons sweet relish

1 tablespoon ketchup

1 teaspoon white vinegar

1/4 teaspoon onion powder

1/8 teaspoon salt

Gluten free hamburger buns (Trader Joes has great ones with sesame seeds)

Iceberg lettuce, shredded

Hamburger dill pickle chips

4 slices American cheese

Brown the ground beef with the chopped onion. Drain; then add the salt, pepper, Worcestershire sauce, and chopped pickles. Mix the secret sauce ingredients in a bowl. Add 1 cup of the sauce to the ground beef mixture and stir. Warm over low to heat everything through. To assemble, start with a bottom bun, a layer of secret sauce, shredded lettuce, cheese slice, scoop of beef mixture, another bottom bun, secret sauce layer, shredded lettuce, pickle chips, scoop of beef mixture, and a top bun. Serve immediately.

Step-by-step tutorial:

Gather your ingredients. You will need ground beef (I use 85/15), half of an onion, hamburger dill pickle chips, salt and pepper, Worcestershire sauce, mayonnaise, French dressing (I used Russian and it worked great), sweet relish, ketchup, white vinegar, and onion powder.

In a medium saucepan, brown the ground beef with the chopped onion until no longer pink. Drain, then add the salt and pepper, Worcestershire sauce, and chopped dill pickles. Stir to combine.

In a bowl, stir together all of the secret sauce ingredients until smooth.

Add 1 cup of the sauce to the beef mixture. Stir and cook for another minute to warm through. Reserve the remaining sauce for assembling the sloppy joes.

To assemble the sloppy joes, you will need gluten free buns (Trader Joes has our favorite sesame seed buns), shredded lettuce, American cheese slices, and hamburger dill pickle chips.

Put together in this order: bottom bun, layer of secret sauce, shredded lettuce, cheese slice, scoop of meat mixture, another bottom bun, layer of secret sauce, shredded lettuce, pickle slices, scoop of meat, and top bun. It's a handful, and very sloppy, but so crazy delicious!

It's nostalgic if you've ever eaten a McDonald's Big Mac before going gluten free. I actually think it tastes way better because it's homemade and not greasy. It's really easy to prepare too..... no grilling required.

Such a fun meal to serve family and friends!
